ABOUT LE RÊVE
Le Rêve Patisserie and Café, opened in the summer of 2008 by Andrew Schneider and Therese Hittman, serves traditional bistro meals from breakfast through late-night dinner. Located in the heart of the Wauwatosa Village, Le Rêve is renowned for its exceptional design. Once a 100-year-old bank, the building has since converted into a spacious patisserie and café with classic leather banquettes, playful pendant lighting, and a signature zinc-topped bar.
Le Rêve offers a French menu prepared by our team of chefs specializing in European cafe and bistro cuisine. Guests can also choose an assortment of breads and pastries showcased in our custom cases, made by classically trained pastry chefs. Le Reve has been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, Martha Stewart Magazine, Milwaukee Journal/Sentinal, Milwaukee Magazine, Edible Magazine, M Magazine, and The Food Network. Le Reve has been awarded best new restaurant, best desserts, and best French.

Sarah Edith Obear
Chef de Cuisine
Sarah's interest in the culinary industry sparked as a child; growing up, she could always be found playing in the kitchen. At the age of 15, she took her first job in a local café and her dedication to the career blossomed. After earning her degree in Culinary Arts, she worked under Chef Stefano Viglietti of Sheboygan, Wisconsin before relocating to Le Rêve Café. Upon her introduction to French fare Sarah worked her way through the ranks of the kitchen and has now found her stride as Le Rêve's Chef de Cuisine. As Chef de Cuisine, she interweaves her passion for unique product and refined cooking with Le Rêve's history of classic, traditional French cuisine. Sarah takes a particular interest in Milwaukee's numerous charity events, continuing Le Rêve's long-term dedication to hospitality excellence. In doing so, Le Rêve is gifted with an environment driven towards authenticity, spirit, and a devotion to the lifelong learning of all things food. Together, Sarah and her team offer dynamic innovation and creativity to Milwaukee's culinary field.
Pastry Sous Chef
Abelardo Guadarrama is the Pastry Sous Chef for Le Rêve Patisserie and Café. Abelardo, originally from Mexico, currently resides in Milwaukee with his wife and two children. Abelardo’s youth was filled with many lessons of hard work and responsibility, all of which were present in his early work history. As an inspector for a prominent bus company in Mexico, Abelardo was able to travel the country and eventually discover his passion for the restaurant industry. Abelardo later pursued this passion in Milwaukee and was able to attain outstanding success in the culinary field.
His pastry repertoire is exceptional. Having begun for the Vicor Restaurant Corporation eight years ago, Abelardo continued his path into the pastry field through distinguished restaurants and bakeries that include Harlequin Bakery, Coquette Café, and James Beard Award-winning Sanford. His prolific knowledge of pastry arts paired with a strong leadership quality and robust work ethic drove Abelardo into his position with Le Rêve.
Abelardo runs all aspects of Le Rêve’s pastry kitchen. This includes preparation and supervision of daily and seasonal desserts, holiday specials, and the pastry staff. He and his wife work jointly in Le Rêve’s pastry department, and they enjoy cooking and baking at home together as well.
